Welcome Beach Party Schedule

The AJET Welcome Beach Party is an annual event held in August each year at Kō Beach in Shima, which is arguably the best beach in Mie.

Train Times - 2014 Schedule

Though any number of trains can get you to Ugata Station by 10:45am, each year a big group of JETs all take the same train to Shima. Those who would like to ride down with a bunch of other JETs should take the following train.

If your station is not listed, please contact an RA or AJET member and they will figure out what time you need to be at your nearest station.

Coming from the north (Nagoya Line)

You will be riding a Kintetsu express train bound for Matsusaka (松阪).

• Kuwana: 08:03 (If coming from the Hokusei Line, be on the train leaving Sohara at 07:06. There is a train at 7:21, but it only gives you 5 minutes to walk from Nishikuwana station and then buy a ticket and then get on, so take the earlier train if you think you might have trouble making the train from Kuwana on time.)
• Kintetsutomida: 08:10
• Kintetsuyokkaichi: 08:16 (If coming from the Yunoyama Line, be on the train leaving Nakakomono at 07:43. Wait for the second express train that goes to Matsusaka - the first one goes to Toba. The first express train goes directly to Toba, and although you could continue on to Ugata, you'll get there at 10:05, which is well before the bus at 10:50, and you'll be sitting and waiting over 20 minutes for everyone else)
• Shiohama: 08:24
• Isewakamatsu: 08:34 (If coming from the Suzuka Line, be on the train leaving Hiratachō at 08:15)
• Shiroko: 08:38
• Edobashi: 08:47
• Tsu: 08:50 (If coming from JR via Kameyama, be on the train leaving Kameyama at 08:23. You have 5 minutes to go up, over and down to the Kintetsu platform, which is plenty, but you won't have time to go out and buy a ticket. You can pay upon arrival at Ugata station.)
• Tsushimmachi: 08:53
• Hisai: 08:58
• Isenakagawa: arrives at 09:02 (Get off here and transfer to an express train bound for Ujiyamada (宇治山田) that leaves Isenakagawa at 9:06. Yes, the train you were just on goes one more stop to Matsusaka, but the transfer there is only 1 minute, and if you are lugging a lot of stuff, it's just not worth it. You'll get to Ugata station at the same time anyway.)
• Matsusaka: 09:13
• Iseshi: 09:29
• Ujiyamada: arrives at 09:31 (Get off here for a local train bound for Kashikojima (賢島) that leaves Ujiyamada at 9:44. Everyone will ride this train all the way to Ugata station and arrive at 10:32. Those getting on here, please get on the local train at 9:43)
• Isuzugawa: 09:47
• Toba: 09:59
• Shimaakasaki: 10:04
• Shimaisobe: 10:25
• Ugata (arrival): 10:32

Coming from the west (Osaka Line)

You will be riding a Kintetsu express train bound for Ujiyamada (宇治山田), and will change to a local train bound for Kashikojima (賢島) at Ujiyamada.

Coming from the south (Kisei Line)

Those coming from the south can take an early local, and will change to a Kintetsu local train bound for Kashikojima (賢島) in Toba. The other option is to come a little bit later.

• Taki: 9:12　(Arrive in Taki at 9:09 and transfer to the 9:12 the JR Rapid Mie 51 (reserved seat for 510 yen) bound of Toba.)
• Toba: 9:59 (You'll arrive at JR Toba Station at 9:47. You'll need to transfer to the Kintetsu Line from there. On the Kintetsu Line, you'll need to get on the local that departs at 9:59)
• Ugata (arrival): 10:32

Times for the bus bound for Anori (安乗) -- bus #91 -- to get to Kō (get off at Kō, 国府). The fare is ¥320.
