Materials

Cards with the vocabulary or grammar of your choice

Directions

Each student receives a card of the target vocabulary or an answer to the target question. They walk around and say the vocabulary or ask the target question and answer according to their card. Then they janken and the winner takes the loser's card. If a student runs out of cards they can ask the teacher for a new one to start again. The student who has collected the most cards at the end wins.

Be sure to watch the game carefully and have plenty of extra cards prepared. If the game goes on too long, eventually it becomes unfair and a few students end up with a ton of cards leaving the others with one or none at all if you run out.

Variations

  • Multiple cards: Instead of receiving one card and obtaining another one when they run out, each student receives 3-5 cards at the beginning and sits down when they completely run out
  • Instead of giving only the one card that they read, students give all of their cards to the winner.
