Mount Asama
Mount Asama (朝熊山 asama yama) (朝熊ヶ岳 asama gatake) is a mountain on the border of Ise and Toba. At 555m, it is the tallest mountain in the Ise-Shima National Park area, and is easily identifiable from far away by the radio and TV towers at the summit.
On a very clear day where the air is crisp and cold, it is possible to see Mount Fuji from the top. The peak of Asama is the fifth farthest natural point in Japan from which it's possible to catch a glimpse of Fuji.

Directions
By Train
The Asama hiking trail can be easily accessed on foot via Asama (朝熊) Station on the Kintetsu Toba Line. It is a local stop halfway between Ujiyamada and Toba.
Once off the train, descend the platform stairs, exit the station, and head right. Just a few moments after leaving the station, there is a sign containing a map that shows how to access the hiking trail head entrance from the station. It sends you through a small rural neighborhood and the entrance to the mountain isn't too far past the neighborhood. It is easy to follow the map, and there are also signs along the way as well.
By Car
For those who want to get a glimpse of the nice view but don't want to hike, getting to the top of Asama is (for a fee) very easy. The Ise-Shima Skyline is a scenic mountain toll road that passes right over the top of Mt. Asama. At the top of the road is a place to park, get out, and take in the view, as well as a small onsen to soak your feet in.
The entrance to the Ise-Shima Skyline is very close to the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine, just over the Isuzu River towards Toba/Shima.
