Issues
Interesting reads regarding issues or topics of debate in Japan.
- Origins of the Japanese People
- Very detailed and in-depth article on a subject that is fairly controversial in Japan.
- Tokyo's Flag and National Anthem Law
- About a nationalistic law stating that all teachers (in Tokyo) are required to sing the national anthem and make their students do so as well at the graduation ceremony. You can tell a lot about your teachers' political viewpoints by watching them at the graduation ceremony and seeing if they sing (loudly) or refrain from singing.
- Japan Tries to Face Up to Growing Poverty Problem
- Very interesting article with stories told by some of rural Japan's working poor.
